In September 1939 the Ministry of Works took over the #LSE’s Houghton St site in London for the Ministry of Economic Warfare, headed by a former LSE lecturer Hugh #Dalton (later a Labour Chancellor of the Exchequer). The LSE evacuated to #Cambridge along with an agreement from Peterhouse for High Table rights &c., the school rented nearby Grove House as its student base. The main economics teaching load was carried by Hayek and Arthur Lewis .
