The ultra-wealthy have milked Australia's broken tax system for too long. Today, we must confront how negative gearing, CGT discounts, generous super tax perks, and the absence of inheritance taxes disproportionately benefit the richest Australians. Meanwhile, essential public services and housing suffer.
It’s time to shift the burden back onto those who’ve benefited most. Tax reforms like limiting super tax concessions for massive balances, scaling back property and capital gains loopholes, and finally introducing a fair wealth or inheritance tax aren’t radical—they’re long overdue.
A truly equitable society isn’t achieved through giveaways to the rich, but by ensuring all Australians pay their fair share. Justice demands no less.

@rvps2001 About the only thing I remember from watching a show on body language too many years ago was that whoever has the literal "upper hand" during a handshake (ie their palm faces down) is the Alpha.

Looking at the photo of Trump and Putin meeting in Alaska, guess who the Alpha is...

I refer to the form of Zionism that spawned Israel as "National Zionism" @skua to highlight its kinship with National Socialism. Zionism comes in a dizzying array of forms. Many, not at all territorial. The genocidal form that dominates Israel is, of course, fixated on acquiring land. Land that's already populated.

Like their National Socialist siblings, National Zionists are sowing the seeds of their own destruction.

When our national broadcaster starts echoing far-right fear mongering on housing, we should ask why. The real issue isn’t taxing ordinary homeowners — it’s vacant properties, multiple investor-owned homes, and the generous tax concessions handed to those who hoard housing. That’s where the distortion lies.

Yay let’s cut teacher education & social sciences! We don’t need people with skills in critical thinking, who understand how power works & can see when we are being manipulated by institutions designed to enrich the few while screwing the many.

This will end well 🤦🏼‍♀️.

The pernicious funding model our governments are using for higher education & research has consequences that will last a very long time.

Whose interests are served here?
