@paulgp Will you be ending this server? I've seen several posts implying it is going to happen soon-ish.

@ginapieters @paulgp There's a global announcement but it's easy to miss. One needs to click on the circled icon to see it (on web, I don't know about mobile/various clients).

@th_alys @paulgp I don't see it anywhere on the official Mastodon app. Weird.

@th_alys Alrighty, where is migrating to?

@paulgp: Just so that it us public info, how much *does* running a server cost?

@ginapieters No clue. I have an account on .social that I moved here. I may go back. But I may just wait until the profession decides on which new service to coordinate. BlueSky and Threads (not accessible in the EU) seem the candidates right now, but EconTwitter is still refusing to move on.

@th_alys The issue I've noticed is that Econs love to Retweet/Quote tweet especially when discussing papers/graphs. Not having that ability has really throttled adoption.

@ginapieters Yes! That's my major complaint as well.

I want to quote papers, e.g. from the RePEc bots. I don't want to just comment under the toots.

I understand the reasons for the initial feature exclusion and it works if the communities functioned the way imagined, but ours doesn't work in that way.

@th_alys it is apparently an available server setting now... They rolled out the feature a few weeks/months ago.

@ginapieters Ah, I'd heard it was coming and I was wondering when. Well, with the server shutting down here, obviously it didn't make sense to roll it out.
